How To Get The Best Deal On A New Vehicle By Using Auto Auctions
Auto auctions can be an extremely useful source of cheap vehicles, provided you know what you are looking for. Although these car auctions are intended primarily for the trade, there is nothing to stop members of the public attending them, and bidding for vehicles. Even in cases where the car auction will ask for trade identification, this is easily overcome by the simple acquisition of a card with your name, address, telephone number and email details. Vehicle auctions are simply interested in shifting their catalog of vehicles as quickly as possible.
There are automobile auctions run by both the public and private sector. Both federal and state government have procedures whereby vehicles are seized when laws are broken. Vehicles seized because of criminal activity can often have unusual specifications, as they may have been used in the actual carrying out of a crime. Vehicles seized as a result of non payment of vehicle loans are far more likely to be standard vehicles, but they may well be brand new, or nearly new, vehicles whose owners have experienced a sudden drop in income.
Another prolific source of good quality vehicles is the commercial sector. When a business which has been dealing in vehicles ends up being liquidated, the vehicles are seized to be sold at auction. This can often mean several identical or near identical models being sold at the same time. Although there may well be other people in the motor trade who can afford to buy these vehicles in bulk, that does not mean that there will not be opportunities for a private individual to secure a bargain.
Buying a public auction car can be a very cost effective alternative to the standard options of buying privately or through a dealer. The one caveat to this is that you will need to be flexible. Whereas somebody visiting car showrooms can take their time and select a vehicle which conforms exactly to their specifications, buyers at public auto auctions will need to be almost entirely with price in mind. There will obviously be some vehicles which will be totally unsuitable, but other than this you will need to be prepared to take whatever comes.
Auto auctions are also not for the overly emotional. If you are someone who quickly forms emotional attachments, you could well find yourself being burned. It only needs two people to get into an overly emotional state to see the price go way above what was expected. It is absolutely essential to enter an auction room in a totally calm and rational state. You need to have assessed each vehicle you are interested in, and set an exact figure, beyond which you are not prepared to bid. No matter how attractive and enticing a vehicle may seem, it is still only a vehicle, and there will be many other similar vehicles. Apply this discipline, and you could pick up some very nice bargains at auto auctions.
